Proposed NZ legislation for natural health

"Why is the NZ Government suddenly so invested in natural health products? After pushing to regulate them under the Therapeutic Products Act alongside pharmaceuticals, they’ve backtracked due to strong opposition from industry, practitioners, and consumers. Now, they’re dedicating the next 12 months to crafting separate legislation with the sector’s input. If they’re putting in this much effort, surely they must see the value in these remedies we’ve trusted for thousands of years—so why the need for such tight controls? Could there be a commercial angle here, perhaps tied to bigger industry interests? Thoughts?
